Cross-chain NFT sales fell to $40.88M for the week of Sep 28–Oct 4, 2026 — a 23.48% decline on the capture's own base — while transactions rose 8.44% and buyer addresses rose 28.79% to 206,788. The whale tape that carried last week's gain vanished, and the wallets it left behind kept trading smaller.

Every figure is CryptoSlam data captured Oct 3, 2026, except the blue-chip floors, which come from NeoDrop's Oct 2 briefing. Where the weekly percentage depends on a comparison base the source does not publish, we show both readings — this week the bases converged while the transaction columns kept disagreeing.

Key point: Cross-chain NFT sales fell 23.48% to $40.88M for the week of Sep 28–Oct 4, 2026 — on 8.44% more transactions and 28.79% more buyer addresses. The whale tape that carried last week's gain vanished, and the wallets it left behind kept trading smaller.

Data sources. All figures are CryptoSlam data as reported in the Oct 3, 2026 seven-day dashboard capture (crypto.news, The Cryptonomist, 8BitCrypto, Guavy, KCEX and CoinPost — figures identical across outlets). Blue-chip floors come from NeoDrop's Sep 25 – Oct 2 briefing, data cutoff Oct 2 09:00 ET, built from CoinGecko collection data, NFT Price Floor volume series and OpenSea collection pages. Buyer and seller counts are blockchain addresses, which may not equal unique individuals. Wash volume was published this week for Ethereum, Polygon, Bitcoin, Base and BNB Chain — the last returning after several weeks' absence; the remaining chains are shown without a figure rather than an estimated one.

1. Headline Numbers

CryptoSlam's Oct 3 capture records $40.88M in organic sales, down 23.48% against the roughly $53.42M prior-week base the capture itself cites. Our own Sep 26 capture put the prior week at $55.51M, against which this week is a 26.36% fall. After widening for a week, the gap between the two bases narrowed from 6.3% to 3.9% — the closest the two readings have been since this report started publishing both. The address columns nearly reconcile: the capture's +28.79% implies a prior buyer count of 160,562 against our 160,565 print — three addresses apart — and its +31.99% implies 149,476 prior sellers against our 150,410, a 0.6% difference. Transaction counts still do not: the capture's +8.44% implies about 796,150 prior transactions against the 825,513 we recorded — the same 3.6% shortfall as last week's capture, now on a falling market.

*The prior-week volume figure is quoted inside the Oct 3 capture itself (crypto.news: 'the previous period's sales at approximately $53.42 million'); no prior-week transaction or address counts are published, so each column implies its own base. The capture's +8.44% on transactions implies about 796,150 prior trades against the 825,513 in our Sep 26 capture — the same 3.6% shortfall as last week, which is why the two transaction-change columns disagree by 3.9 points again.

Average value per transaction fell back to $47.35 — $40.88M across 863,295 trades, down 29.6% from $67.24. Both bases agree the prior ticket was about $67: the capture's implied prior average computes to $67.09, so the fall is real on either reading. Transactions per buyer address fell to 4.2 from 5.1, and value per buyer address fell from $346 to about $198. Last week's signature — fewer trades per wallet and a bigger ticket — fully reversed into even fewer trades per wallet at a much smaller ticket.

2. Chain Breakdown — Organic vs Wash

Ranked by organic sales. Wash volume was published for five chains this week — Ethereum, Polygon, Bitcoin, Base and BNB Chain, the last returning after several weeks' absence. One field needs a caveat before the table: Base's wash figure.

ChainOrganic salesShareW/WWashBuyer addrsBuyers W/W
Ethereum$17.08M41.8%-42.0%$908,89430,041+57.8%
Polygon$8.21M20.1%+12.9%$22.98M47,606+27.0%
Bitcoin$3.83M9.4%-25.6%$82,56310,377+30.7%
Base$2.25M5.5%-22.0%$4.80M3,373+15.0%
BNB Chain$2.16M5.3%-19.0%$1,68718,844+25.6%
Immutable$2.12M5.2%-12.7%—5,421+27.0%
Solana$1.95M4.8%+2.0%—46,684+29.7%

Ethereum leads at $17.08M — 41.8% of organic volume, down from 54.6% last week — falling 42.01% as reported and 43.7% on our base. Polygon was the only large chain to grow: organic rose 12.89% to $8.21M, with $22.98M of wash against it — a 2.80× ratio, the highest of the seven weeks the source has published Polygon wash, above the prior high of 2.59×. Courtyard's $7.31M is 89% of Polygon's own organic total. Base fell 21.98% to $2.25M, and BNB Chain's 18.97% fall still left its share higher — from 4.8% to 5.3%, the first week in the series its share has moved up. Solana added 1.96% to $1.95M, the other chain in the green. The six named chains account for 87.2% of global organic volume ($35.65M), down from 92.3% last week.

A caveat on Base's wash figure. Every one of the six weeks the source has published a Base wash total this series, it has printed the same $4.80M — while Base's organic volume changed every single week. This capture's own change column adds a contradiction: its +79.93% implies a prior week of $2.67M, which matches neither the $4.80M it prints now nor the $4.80M our Sep 26 capture recorded. We keep the level as printed and treat the week-over-week column for this field as unreliable; at the printed level, Base's wash is 2.13× its organic total.

3. Blue-Chip Floors

NeoDrop's Sep 25 – Oct 2 briefing (cutoff Oct 2, 09:00 ET) recorded all five blue-chip floors lower in ETH terms — the first clean sweep of the cohort since the week ending Sep 4, after last week's three-of-five gain. The falls range from 2.08% (CryptoPunks, to 32.99 ETH) to 12.90% (Pudgy Penguins, to 2.97 ETH). ETH itself rose 2.00% over the window, from $2,690.89 to $2,744.70, so every decline is in ETH terms and steeper in USD; the briefing's USD floors imply an ETH price near $2,746, matching its endpoint.

CollectionFloor (Oct 2)Floor (Sep 25)Change vs Sep 257-day (as reported)Floor (USD)

Azuki0.635 ETH0.684 ETH-7.2%-7.2%$1,744
Doodles0.2621 ETH0.285 ETH-8.0%-8.0%$719

Two change columns, because they measure different things. Change vs Sep 25 compares two precisely dated snapshots — ours and NeoDrop's from last week. 7-day (as reported) is the briefing's published weekly change. This week the two agree outright on all five rows. The one divergence inside the source — CoinGecko's rolling seven-day field reading −11.34% for BAYC against the −4.98% one-week-apart level change — is resolved by the briefing against its own prior reading (6.42 ETH seven days earlier), which our snapshot computation matches; we follow the same resolution. One internal inconsistency to disclose: the briefing's text quotes Pudgy's USD floor as $8,154.75 while its table prints $8,098.22 (implying an ETH price near $2,727 against $2,746); we carry the table value.

The volume tape tells the week. The cohort traded 1,664.91 ETH, down 56.4% from 3,822.57, and the two largest names' dominance eased: CryptoPunks and BAYC took 67.6% of cohort volume against 91.6% last week. CryptoPunks' volume spike unwound — 580.15 ETH across 17 sales, down 79.5% from 79 sales the prior week — yet its floor held the 30 ETH line at 32.99. BAYC's top offer repaired from 82.7% to 97.0% of floor, the bid recovery last week's reading flagged as at risk. Pudgy Penguins ran the opposite pattern: volume rose 83.5% to 415.61 ETH on 135 sales while the floor fell 12.9% — a distribution signature. Azuki's largest sale printed 20 ETH against a 0.635 ETH floor — 31.5× — on volume up 79.9%. The cohort's combined implied market cap is about $1.17B: CryptoPunks $905.3M, BAYC $167.5M, Pudgy Penguins $72.0M, Azuki $17.4M, Doodles $7.2M.

4. Top Collections

Courtyard (Polygon) took the top of the table back from CryptoPunks at $7.31M, up 15.11% as reported (11.4% on our base) across 125,802 transactions, up 12.9% — 17.9% of global organic volume and 89% of Polygon's own organic total. Credits (Ethereum) held second at $2.22M (−56.92%) across 36,660 transactions — a second consecutive week in the top three. CryptoPunks fell to third at $1.97M across just 21 transactions. Panini America entered the table at $1.87M (+557.53%) across 20,622 transactions, and $ATMC BRC-20 (Bitcoin) ranked fifth at $1.21M (+36.25%) across 1,160.

Panini AmericaPanini$1.87M20,622$91
$ATMC BRC-20Bitcoin$1.21M1,160$1,043

The averages separate the shapes: CryptoPunks' $93,810 per transaction sits about 1.04× its $90,591 floor print — floor-adjacent selling at a quarter of last week's pace (CryptoSlam counts 21 transactions where NFT Price Floor's series counts 17 sales; two sources, two counters). Courtyard averaged $58 across 125,802 trades, Credits $61, Panini America $91, and $ATMC about $1,043 on Bitcoin.

The five largest listed trades of the week all settled on Ethereum — a Beeple at $436,153.94, Known Origin #70104 at $205,028, CryptoPunks #1824 at $121,814 and #6489 at $121,291, and WrappedSuperRare #250 at $111,709 — about $996,000 combined, or 2.4% of global volume, against $2.70M and 4.9% last week. The week's largest known transaction does not appear in any marketplace ranking: GONDI's Oct 1 sale of CryptoPunk #8348 for 3M USDC settled through a wrapped-punks sell-and-repay structure rather than a listing. Part of the whale tape has moved off-market.

Key takeaways
  • Sales fell 23.48% to $40.88M on the capture's own base and 26.36% on ours — and after widening for a week, the two bases converged from 6.3% apart to 3.9%.
  • Transactions rose 8.44% to 863,295 and buyer addresses 28.79% to 206,788, while the average ticket fell from $67.24 to $47.35 — the whale tape vanished and participation stayed broad.
  • Ethereum's share fell from 54.6% to 41.8%; Polygon was the only large chain to grow, and its wash ratio hit 2.80× organic — the highest of the series.
  • Base's wash field printed $4.80M for a sixth consecutive published week while its own change column implies $2.67M — we carry the level and flag the field as unreliable.
  • All five blue-chip floors fell in ETH — the first clean sweep since the week ending Sep 4 — while BAYC's top offer repaired to 97.0% of floor and Pudgy's volume rose 83.5% into a 12.9% floor decline.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did NFT sales fall 23.5% or 26.4% this week?

Both figures describe the same $40.88M. The 23.48% fall is measured against the roughly $53.42M prior-week base quoted inside the Oct 3 capture; the 26.36% fall measures the same figure against the $55.51M recorded in our Sep 26 capture. After widening last week, the gap between the bases narrowed to 3.9% — the closest the two readings have been.

Why did buyer addresses rise while value fell?

More wallets, smaller tickets. Transactions rose 8.44% and buyers 28.79%, but the average trade fell from $67.24 to $47.35, transactions per buyer fell to 4.2, and the five largest trades totalled about $996,000 — 2.4% of volume, against 4.9% last week.

Which chain had the most NFT sales?

Ethereum, at $17.08M — 41.8% of global organic volume, down from 54.6%. Polygon was second at $8.21M (the only large chain to grow), Bitcoin third at $3.83M, Base fourth at $2.25M, BNB Chain fifth at $2.16M, Immutable sixth at $2.12M and Solana seventh at $1.95M.

Is the wash-trading figure included in the sales total?

No. CryptoSlam reports organic sales separately from wash volume. This week wash was published for five chains: Ethereum ($908,894), Polygon ($22.98M), Bitcoin ($82,563), Base ($4.80M) and BNB Chain ($1,687). Base's figure has printed the same $4.80M every week it was published — see the caveat in the chain section.

Did all blue-chip floors really fall?

Yes — between the Sep 25 and Oct 2 snapshots all five declined in ETH terms, from −2.08% (CryptoPunks) to −12.90% (Pudgy Penguins), even as ETH itself rose 2.00%. The only source divergence is BAYC: CoinGecko's rolling field reads −11.34% where the one-week-apart levels compute −4.98%, and the briefing resolves against its own prior reading.
